Open Letter from Mark Storrey:
North State shelters and rescue organizations,
I am very excited to be sending out this email to all of you. Many years ago I attended a super adoption event in Fresno and was blown away with the amount of rescues and shelters that came together with the simple goal of finding forever homes for homeless animals. This event was extremely successful and in a six-hour period they adopted hundreds of animals. I have been trying for the last five years to set something like that up here in the North State. Thanks to Katie Ball and the Love Your Pet Expo team that is exactly what we are going to be doing this year.
The event will take place on Saturday April 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be located at Hawes Ranch & Farm in Anderson. We have been working with the Love Your Pet Expo team for a few months now and have completed a site visit to see where we would be able to setup the adoption side of the event. I believe we have found a great setup that will be fun for all and a great way to promote our animals to the community. The Love Your Pet Expo team and I believe that, working together, we can take an already fantastic expo and add the element of adoptable pets to make this an annual “can’t miss” event for our community.
I have provided adoption policies and procedures that we have developed specifically for this event. These policies and procedures were base on the Best Friend Societies informational handouts and also seminars regarding super adoption events. I have also included a sample cage card and an event participation form.
If you would like to see more on the Love Your Pet Expo please visit the website at http://www.loveyourpetexpo.com/. If you do plan to attend please link this to your own social media sites. We will be starting the advertising very soon so hopefully you will see and hear the ads very soon for the event.
There is no fee for any of the 501 (c) 3 rescues or shelters that choose to attend. We need to have an attendance commitment and an estimate on number of animals you are bringing no later than Friday March 27.
This process is new to us and we are hoping that we can grow this event to become the premier adoption event in the North State. We can only accomplish this by working together and we will be asking for feedback throughout the process so that the 2016 event will be even bigger and better.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Thank you so much for all that you do for so many deserving animals and I look forward to seeing many of you on April 18.
