Horses at our Sanctuary
This is Saint, a quarter horse who is navicular in all 4 legs, welcoming his new friend Rio who is blind. Rio was a Foster horse from Safe Haven Horse Rescue. We have had Saint for 13 years. He is 27 years old. I am sure that he is the type of horse that old cowboys wrote songs about. He is a stinker who will steal your hammer while you build his barn and take off running so you have to chase him. He can also be your best friend who will lie down under a shade tree and listen while you read him stories. Saint has been a seeing eye horse for 6 blind ponies and 2 blind horses and only complains a little bit, asking for extra goodies in his bucket because of the extra hard work he does, keeping a close eye on the other sanctuary critters. |
Dena is also a foster horse from Safe Haven Horse rescue. She is very vocal, loves apples, but says a spoon full of sugar does not help the medicine go down. (She has arthritis and muscle atrophy from malnutrition in her younger days.)
Here are Gladys Cravats (a very nosy gossipy goat) and Taffy, Thanks to Jeffers Pet for their generous donations of supplements for Saint and Deena. If you like what we're doing, please give us a Tweet. Our sanctuary runs on donations. |
